The Journal of the Korean Medical Association (JKMA) is the official peer-reviewed, open-access, monthly journal of the Korean Medical Association (KMA). It contains articles in Korean or English. Its abbreviated title is 'J Korean Med Assoc'. The aims of the Journal include contributing to the treatment of and preventing diseases of public health importance and to improvement of health and quality of life through sharing the state-of the-art scientific information on medicine by the members of KMA and other national and international societies.
JKMA was launched in 1948. After two years of publication, its publication was ceased due to the Korean War (1950-1953). After the armistice, JKMA resumed publication in 1958. The Korean title of the JKMA in its first year was Choson Uihak Hyophoe Hoebo (朝鮮醫學協會會報). From 1949, the Korean title became Taehan Uihak Hyophoe Hoebo (大韓醫學協會會報). Its Korean title was Taehan Uihak Hyophoe Chapchi (大韓醫學協會雜誌) from the revived issue of the year 1958 to the February issue of the year 1960. From the March issue of the year 1960, it was changed to Taehan Uihak Hyophoe Chi (대한의학협회지). It was changed again to Taehan Uisa Hyophoe Chi (대한의사협회지) from the July issue of the year 1995 and has been continued till now. These changing Korean titles represent slight variations in the current English title. The pISSN was changed from 0023-4028 to 1975-8456 in the year 2007.
